Poem: Mastermind

Excerpt from Four: “Dear Brother”

I’ve had friends tell me

That their older siblings

Beat them up mercilessly

While their parents weren’t looking

I shake my head

And tell them

My older brother

Never laid a hand on me

He was smart enough

To say or do the tiniest things

Over and over

To drive me crazy

And make me punch him

Sharp in the arm

And then

Of course

He’d tell Mom
