Poem: Giant

Excerpt from Four: “Dear Dad”

IMG_0079

I covered my eyes

And giggled.

“One…

Two…

Free…

Four…

Six…

Sev-eigh-nine

TEN!”

My hands flew away from my face

Like birds bursting from a cage

Light flooded my vision

My eyes narrowed

Scanning the yard

To find you.

Seconds later

I was lifted sky high

And I shrieked

Eyes wide, laughing

Because I finally knew

What it was like

To be a giant.
